The Ocean Pursuit ran aground outside of the Oregon Inlet in early March 2020. While the crew was rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard, the ship was left abandoned - eventually washing ashore. The vessel - a former scallop boat - was removed in October 2021 after the National Park Service deemed it as a hazard.
